Scope

In the context of Identity and Access management on the OutSystems platform, I was responsible for leading and contribution to the design of extensibility authentication features, to allow customers to integrate their authentication systems with the platform. This required a clear understanding of the user needs, business need, and market fit.

Challenge

One of the OutSystem tenets is abstraction of the underlying systems. Given Identity and access management systems and protocols inherent complexity, the challenge was to design an experience that would both inform provide visibility of the status of the system, while abstracting the underlying complexity.

• Understanding of the underlying system: in order to design an adequate experience.
• Abstract the technical complexity: so that users can be more efficient.
• Integrate the experience in the OutSystems ecosystem: to adhere to the OutSystems complexity abstraction philosophy.

From a leadership perspective, I’ve gather a clear understanding of the system, technologies, constraints and limitations, in order to enable the team members in the initiative.

• Put in place processes to allow team members to effectively work.

Key achievements

As a result of the team efforts, we were able to:

• Successfully deliver on time and providing an experience supporting the defined outcomes.
• Increase team confidence on working in highly technical topics, despite their background.
• Deliver a positively received experience both internally and by users.
• Internally grow the seniority, influence and visibility of the team.
