Scope

In the context of Identity and Access management on the OutSystems platform, I was responsible for leading the design of the development experience for creating applications with self-registration flows. This requires an understanding of the dev experience area, and how the new identity concepts would fit in it.

Development experience for authentication with external identity providers

Challenge

The comprehensive identity and access management journeys require interaction with different product areas. It was required from my team to collaborate with other UX and development teams, in order to ensure delivering a proper experience.

• Other UX teams: gain the context in other product areas, to support the design work.
• Development: understand the correct teams to get involved in validating the experience.

From a leadership perspective, I supported the team members in connecting with the right stakeholders, provided technical and product context, and contributed to the design of this experience.

Strategy

• Create last standing relationships with peers, to make collaboration easier.
• Identification of key stakeholders, to involve as soon as possible in the process, namely the DRIs of the two areas.
• Foster frequent alignment between UX and with external stakeholders.
• Design reviews and critiques with experts of the developer experience.

As a result of the team efforts, we were able to:
